Welcome to the Weekend.....{take your time on a Labor Day Weekend}!

Did you hear that?  Labor Day Weekend has just arrived and not a minute too soon in my book.
This time of year it's always a reminder to slow down, take a breath and savor the final, golden days of summer...............

Today I'm getting a kick out of these Slim Aarons photographs. I must be I'm in the mood for another poolside party!

Whether you are celebrating the weekend with a party for friends.........................

a party of two.............

.................some fun for one

.......or hitting the road for an adventure......
make it the best weekend ever (you know who you are)!

                                                           Cheers to a long weekend!

(I'm crushing on this Karmann Ghia. My dad had one and it was the car where I first learned to drive!)

Fall Fashion Preview {Tie one on?} Bows are back!

They're baaaaaack!! I'm seeing the bow-tie blouses everywhere in fall previews this year. They always say what goes around comes around. I must admit it, I wore this trend in the early 80's and I am strongly considering it again. Some of us were heavily influenced by the lovely Princess Diana which made the look feel super chic. We welcomed the short skirts and skimpy outfits of the mid 1980's and the bow tie seemed to fall out of favor and look, somehow, prudish.

Flash to 2012 and the trend is back, with some fresh, fun twists to make it feel current.

Look for a pop of color and a fresh twist of a patterned skirt.

The asymmetrical neck and elbow length sleeves freshen up this version from ASOS.

Modern hair and a chic, richly textured coat make this silky number a standout!

Luxe, high end version from Dolce and Gabbana.

Buy this nicely priced coral blouse at Piperlime. The undone bow makes it look current.

Modern print from New York and Company

What about you~does the bow tie trend feel dated or fresh? Are you willing to give it a try?
                                                     Cheers,

Morning Monday.....{tips for survival}

Hard to believe it's already Monday......the weekends are simply flying by lately aren't they?

After a long lazy weekend I tend to dread the jarring sound of the mercilessness alarm clock. Since
'breaking up with Monday' is not really option for most of us, other strategies are needed. I've learned that being prepared is half the battle and I've picked up some tricks along the way.

1-Set the coffee (or tea) maker on timer for 15 minutes before you need to get up. The brewing process is aromatic and somehow it makes you feel like you aren't the only one awake at that hour.

2-Lay out clothing, shoes, even accessories and jewelry, the night before. On a super busy week I will often select all my work or event outfits on Sunday so that I'm not left in the 'nothing to wear' panic.

Blouse Trina Turk for Banana Republic

My Trina Turk Design Crush continues (this post)
                                                                        Jewelry Box

3-Think ahead about breakfast, snacks and lunch~especially if you brown bag it. This morning I made these delicious mini egg frittas for brunch. They are  pure egg, cheesy, veggie goodness and super easy.   I made a double batch so we would have enough for a couple of breakfasts this week and froze a few for another week.  I also like to load snack size baggies of toasted almonds or pistachios for my purse or desk. Green apples hold up well so I'll take 3 or 4 at the beginning of the week and put on the table in my office (for me or a friend).  I always keep a supply of my favorite healthy frozen meals by Kashi, in the freezer at work, just in case I didn't have time to make something at home.

4. If you can muster the courage-a work out or yoga session is always the best way to get you wide awake and ready to take on the day. Hello endorphins!!

Good luck with the reentry to the work week.  I see the new, super heavy Vogue-Fall Fashion Edition- has arrived. I wonder if lifting it will count as a work out. Maybe that will get those endorphins flowing....or maybe it's just the fall fashions.  Either way, looks like some fun 'homework' tonight as a
reward for a busy Monday.

Thanks again for stopping by!
Cheers,

And finally, a French Film that I ordered a month ago from UK Amazon, has arrived!
La Piscine "The Swimming Pool" starring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider.....is rumored to be all about
smoldering photography, fabulous fashions, glamorous sets and a steamy plot line. I'm thinking it sound like a date night at home is in order. "La Piscine" style.......I always love a swimming pool!

Color Story......let's get wild {animal instinct}!

Animal print is 'pouncing' up all over for fall. I'm seeing it in home, fashion, accessories and even appliances. If you ask me, it's never truly been in hibernation, as seen in the gorgeous vintage Vogue photo below. Spotted leopard and chartreuse.....so chic!

                                                                           Valentino-perfection!

                                                                   Tory Burch-sky high!

                                                                           Oh La Fendi!

                                                                         Trina Turk

                                                                     Tory Burch does iPhone!

Michael Kors- a more affordable option-stylish!

Tip~ cover up a busy animal print blouse with a bold color. Animal print becomes the easy accent but does not overpower.

And if you are feeling bold, go big, but pair it with more casual pieces to keep it from being too serious.

Do you dare..... wear animal print? Will you admit you have an animal print
toaster? Stylemindchic needs to know.
Cheers to that, Heather
